South Africans spend more than half their salaries on debt. That's according to debt management company, Debtbusters. Multiple economic challenges, such as increasing interest rates, and high fuel and food prices, are not helping. Debtbuster say those taking home R20 000 a month, or more, spend about 70% of their income on debt repayments. While those taking home more than R10 000 a month, spend most of their take-home pay on servicing debt.
